This is a very common method of examination for horses for a wide variety of problems. It is best at imaging hard tissues such as bone and teeth.
It is often used to examine regions of limbs which we have demonstrated are responsible for lameness or pain.
It can also be used to view areas of abnormal swellings and lumps.
In the horses head, xrays are used to view dental structures where there is a perceived to be a problem.
This may present as an obvious dental problem seen on examination of the mouth, difficulty eating or a foul smelling discharge from one nostril or below the jaw.
Head xrays are also useful to view sinuses where there is a discharge of pus or blood.
Xrays of feet are very useful in cases where laminitis has brought about long term changes in the conformation of the feet or where there is an imbalance in the foot.
These images can be used by the farrier to assist in the corrective trimming of the feet to make the horse more comfortable and better able to move .
Because horses are such large animals xrays of the chest, abdomen and parts of the spine can be difficult or impossible.
XRAYS CAN BE TAKEN AT YOUR YARD USING OUR DIGITAL SYSTEM THAT WILL PROVIDE IMAGES TO BE ASSESSED ON SITE
